There is now a Roadster version of the Aventador SVJ. it uses a two-piece removable carbon-fiber hardtop that stores in the front trunk when not in use. Lamborghini is making just 800 of them worldwide.
The SVJ Roadster uses the same 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V-12 from the coupe, making 770 horsepower and 531 lb.-ft. of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via a single-clutch paddle-shift transmission, able to get the car to 62 mph in 2.9 seconds and to 125 mph in 8.8 seconds. Braking from 62 mph to zero takes 101 feet. Top speed remains the same at 217 mph, though it’s unclear whether that number is achievable with the top in place or not.
Lamborghini’s ALA active aero system makes a return as well, reformulated to react better with the altered bodywork. The company says the Roadster weighs just 110 pounds more than the coupe, adding up to a total of 3472 pounds dry.
First customers for the SVJ Roadster will take delivery in summer 2019, with an MSRP of $573,966.
